Performance Team Competes in Branson

The By Grace Performance Team participated in the DMI DanceMakers Competition & Convention February 26th through 28th at the Chateau on the Lake in Branson. The team performed a variety of numbers in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, musical theatre & modern. The members were also privileged to attend classes taught by nationally renowned instructors: Michael Lemanski, Janice Barringer, Tommy Alexander, Becca Retter, Keith Clifton and Brad Taylor. The team won many awards and received recognition in several areas.

Our group performances in modern, ballet, and a tap number with all members performing received first place trophies. Other group performances in the lyrical, jazz, and tap categories won second place trophies. A duet performance by Emma M. & Allison P. received 1st place. Other duets performed by Riley B. & Laurel D., and Casey C. & Brodie G. each received second place. A duet performed by Sandra H. & Alyssa S. received a third place trophy.

Our modern number performed to "Down To The River To Pray" choreographed by Miss Dani Wendel received Senior Division High Score Group Award.

Our soloists placed as follows: First Place, Laurel D. and Brodie G.  Second Place, Amy D., Riley B., Allison P., Cassi C., Tracy C., Emma M., Mikaela M., Alyssa S., Sandra H., and Trenton H.  All soloists received trophies for their performances.  Trenton H. received recognition as Mr. Junior Starmaker Branson Second Place.

During the convention classes, Trenton H. and Riley B. were recognized by instructors for their efforts in hip hop and lyrical.

"Down To The River To Pray" - Senior Division High Score Award


By Grace Performance Team Competes in Kansas

On March 13th & 14th, the By Grace Performance Team competed in the International Dance Challenge Dance Competition at The Lied Center on the University of Kansas campus.  Our group numbers in the categories of modern, lyrical, tap, and ballet each received a Gold Champion Award.  Our group number in the jazz category received a Sterling Silver Champion Award.  The modern performance to “Down To The River To Pray” received the “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us” award for their transitions executed during the routine.

A duet performed to “I Wanna Be Like You” by Emma M. and Allison P. received a High Gold Champion Award and was asked to perform in the Junior Entertainment Challenge at the end of competition.  This duet also received an award for “Best Emotional Execution”.

Another duet performed by Riley B. and Laurel D. received a Gold Champion Award.  Casey C. and Brodie G. performed a duet to “Wake Up Alone” and received a Sterling Silver Champion Award. 

A Platinum Champion Award was given to Amy D. for her classical ballet solo to “Coppelia”.  Our other soloists placed as follows:  Gold Champions were Emma M., Cassi C., Trenton H., Allison P., Riley B., Laurel D., Tracy C., and Brodie G.  Sterling Silver Champions were Alyssa S., Mikaela M., and Tracy C..  Soloist Allison P. received the “Commitment Award” for her solo to “Sandra Dee”. 

Cassi C., Emma M., and Allison P. were named Junior Miss IDC Semi-Finalists.  Trenton H. was named a Junior Mr. IDC Semi-Finalist.  In the senior division, Riley B., Amy D., Laurel D., Tracy C. and Brodie G. were named Senior Miss IDC Semi-Finalists. 

Amy D. was given the Senior National Dance Week Centerstage Award for her performance in the modern number.

Team member Sandra H. was unable to compete due to injury.  The team’s next competition is April 23rd.



By Grace Performance Team Competes in Last Competition of Season


The By Grace Performance Team graced the stage at the Overland Park Convention Center April 23rd through 25th as they competed in the Stage One Dance Competition.  The team brought back many awards and accomplishments.  Group numbers, duets, and solos were performed.


Our group performances in ballet, tap, lyrical and modern each received High Gold awards.  The ballet routine also received First Place in its division.  Our group performance in jazz received a Gold award.

A duet performed by Emma Meloy & Allison Petry received a High Gold award.  Other duets by Riley Bradley & Laurel Dehn, Casey Cummings & Brodie Gray, and Sandra Holt & Alyssa Simmons all received Gold awards.

In the Elite Stars division, our soloists performed as follows:  Amy DeHart, Platinum in ballet; Riley Bradley, two High Gold awards and 1st place in the lyrical category; Laurel Dehn, High Gold and 1st place award in the tap category;  Brodie Gray, High Gold in the open category; Emma Meloy, Gold in musical theatre; Alyssa Simmons, Gold in lyrical; Allison Petry, Gold in the open category; Mikaela McGill, two Gold awards in modern and jazz; and Sandra Holt, Gold in the lyrical category.

Our soloists in the Rising Stars and Shooting Stars divisions received awards as follows: Cassi Catron, High Gold in tap; Trenton Holt, Gold in hip hop; and Tracy Catron received two High Gold awards in lyrical and jazz and also received 1st place high point award in the adult category.

This was the last competition of the season for the Performance Team.  They have had a very successful year.  Congratulations!
